Avoriaz 1800 is arguably one of the most important freestyle skiing and snowboarding destinations in the world. In season 2007 - 2008 Avoriaz become host to Burtons "Stash" snowpark the only one outside of Tahoe, North America. In addition to this Avoriaz was the first and still remains the European leader in Snowpark development with 3 snowparks and 1 superpipe. Year after year the best European skiing and snowboarding talent returns to Avoriaz for the season to improve their skills.
From the day that the Avoriaz Resort opened it was 100% pedestrianised and designed to fully integrate in to the surrounding environment... quite remarkable considering Avoriaz is over 40 years old. The architecture of Avoriaz is not like other purpose built resorts that look bolted together. All of the buildings share the same architectural design and are all wooden clad in the same type and colour wood. We can assure you that most people that don't like Avoriaz's architecture have never seen it with their own eyes. The
Avoriaz resort is made up mainly of apartments but nestled among the original part of the resort you will find a few private chalets. Whichever type of Avoriaz accommodation you choose you will find that you are never far from the action and that it is very easy to walk from one side of the resort to the other.
Avoriaz has a great selection of apres ski bars; restaurants - including the Michelen rated Dromont Hotel; nightclubs; shops; a bowling alley and an ice rink. Avoriaz has been awarded the family plus label for its child friendly services and environment.
