Morzine RC

Morzine-Avoriaz provides a great base to explore some world class road cycle routes. Since 1975 the Tour de France has visited 23 times, the last being 2010. (Which included a finish in Avoriaz, a rest day and a start from Morzine Town Centre)

Although Morzine cannot offer such an epic climb it does offer even the greatest road cyclists a challenge. In 2002 the Col de Joux Plane nearly lost Lance Armstrong the tour, this being one of the very few tour climbs that he has suffered on"

Road Cycling Morzine 1.jpg Other tour climbs include the Col De Ramaz which takes you on a 16km climb from Mieussy and the awesome 14km time trial from Morzine to Avoriaz.

In addition there are a plethora of other Cols that can be linked together to make an awesome days riding. For example a tough test would be to leave Morzine, heading north towards lake Geneva, climb the Col de Joux Verte (1760 m), the Col de Feu (1117 m), Col de Cou (1116 m), Col de Terramon (1100m) the Col de Jambaz (1027 m), for the final climb of the Col de lEncrenaz (1432 m) Montriond lake. 3,637m of climbing over 164km.

If you fancy something more sedate but still challenging you can cycle around Lac Leman. This provides a 180km cycle route which passes through Evian, Montreux, Lausanne, Geneva and Thonon. If you are not keen on doing it all in one day you can catch the ferry back from one of the many ports that line the lake.
